Clayton, son of Mr. Thomas Clayton, aged 19 years and 4 months. Scarcely had the earth closed over the remains of the mother when its bosom must again be opened to receive those of a son, called away in the morning of life. From childhood he was the favorite of all who knew him. Amiable in his disposition, kind in his manners, he was the joy and delight of the family circle, sincere and affable in his intercourse with his youthful companions, he has not left an enemy behind him. In his protracted illness, he showed all the meekness of the little child. Not a murmur, not a complaint escaped his lips. With cheerfulness he submitted to all the directions of his medical attendant. At last he fell beneath the stroke of death, as a flower early cut down. How mysterious are ways of Him, who directs all events! We trust, he rests in peace, with a mother beloved, who had gone to the grave a few short, short days before him.".
